Shelter Belt 50 m
A 50-metre row of trees that breaks the boundary-layer wind and traps drifting dust. The closest natural experiment — China's Three-North Shelterbelt — has been running for 47 years and is the most studied dust-mitigation intervention on Earth.

Where
Edge of farmland or settlement boundary in the dust-affected aimags (Töv, Sühbaatar, Dornogovi). Co-coordinated with the local Forest User Group.
Planting method
Three to five staggered rows (depending on dominant wind direction). Tall trees in the middle, dense shrubs (caragana) on the windward side. 1.5 m within-row spacing, 2 m between rows. Designed to be ~50% porous — solid walls create damaging turbulence on the lee side.
Audit
Survival audit at Y1 and Y3. Effectiveness measured at Y5 via wind-speed reduction sensor placed downwind.
