Terms of Use

Welcome to Green Shield Mongolia. These terms (“Terms”) govern your use of green-shields.com (“the Site”) and any donation you make through it. By using the Site you agree to these Terms.

1. Who we are

Green Shield Mongolia is a programme of the Green Finance Initiative, registered in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia. We coordinate native-species reforestation, shelter-belt and saxaul-restoration projects across Mongolia.

2. The donation

• A donation is a charitable contribution to the Green Finance Initiative, ring-fenced for the planting programme you select.
• Donations are non-refundable except where required by law or where we are unable to deliver the planting commitment for reasons within our control.
• The reference price for each shield includes three years of Forest User Group (FUG) care, GPS baselines, photo time-series, an impact certificate, and our survival commitment described below.
• 100% of every donation, net of payment-processor fees, funds planting and care. Operating overheads are funded separately.
• Payments are processed by HiPay (hipay.mn). We do not handle card data.

3. Planting and survival

• Saplings are planted in the next available spring or autumn planting window for the chosen aimag (province).
• We commit to a Year-3 survival rate of at least 70% across the cohort. Where survival falls below this threshold across an audited site, we will replant the affected portion at no additional cost to you.
• Year 1 and Year 3 survival surveys are conducted by qualified field teams and reviewed by an independent auditor.
• Climate, fire, pest, regulatory action, or community decisions that change land availability may affect timing. We will notify you of any material change to your shield.

4. Your account and certificates

• The name you provide will be printed on your impact certificate.
• If you create a donor account, you are responsible for keeping your password confidential and for activity under your account.
• If you elect to receive yearly survival reports, we will email them to the address you provide.
• You are responsible for keeping your contact details current. Email us at maralgoo@green-shields.com for changes.

5. Tax treatment

Tax treatment depends on your country of residence and the legal vehicle that receives your donation. We will state on your receipt the entity that issued it. We do not provide tax advice — please consult your own adviser.

6. Acceptable use

You may not (i) attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Site, (ii) submit false personal data, (iii) use the Site for fraud, money-laundering, or any unlawful purpose, or (iv) interfere with the Site’s operation or other users.

7. Intellectual property

The Site, its design, text, logos and code are owned by the Green Finance Initiative or its licensors. You may share or reproduce content for non-commercial educational use with credit; all other use requires written permission.

8. Disclaimers and liability

• The Site is provided “as is”. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted or error-free.
• To the maximum extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising from your use of the Site or from a single donation is limited to the amount of that donation.
• Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law (such as for fraud or personal injury caused by negligence).

9. Privacy

Our use of personal data is described in the Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms.

10. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The “Last updated” date will change and, for material changes, we will notify donors by email.

11. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of Mongolia. Any dispute will first be addressed in good faith between the parties; if unresolved within 60 days it will be referred to the courts of Ulaanbaatar.
