A short note on cookies.
We try to use as few cookies as we reasonably can. Here’s exactly what’s set when you visit Green Shield, why, and how to turn them off.
What is a cookie?
A cookie is a small piece of text a website asks your browser to store. The next time you visit, your browser sends it back so the site can remember you (e.g. that you’re logged in, or what’s in your cart). We use them sparingly.
Strictly necessary cookies
These are required for the site to work — they keep you signed in, hold your donation cart between page loads, and protect against cross-site request forgery on the donation form. We can’t disable these without breaking core features.
- wordpress_logged_in_* — keeps you logged in if you’re a registered donor (admin/staff only). Expires when you log out.
- wp-settings-* — your preferences inside the WordPress dashboard. Editors only.
- gs_cart — your in-progress donation cart. Cleared when you complete or abandon the donation.
Analytics cookies (privacy-respecting)
We use a single analytics cookie set by Jetpack Stats to count page views and understand which content donors find useful. No cross-site tracking. No advertising. Aggregated data only.
- tk_* — Jetpack Stats. 1-year expiry. Jetpack cookie reference.
What we do not use
- No advertising or remarketing cookies (Facebook Pixel, Google Ads, etc.).
- No third-party tracking pixels.
- No A/B testing cookies.
- No fingerprinting.
Third-party cookies on the payment page
When you click “Pay”, you’re redirected to HiPay’s hosted payment page (test.hipay.mn or hipay.mn). HiPay sets its own cookies on that page to handle the payment securely. Once the payment is finished and you’re returned to Green Shield, those cookies stay on the HiPay domain — we never see them.
How to turn cookies off
Every modern browser lets you block cookies, either site-by-site or globally. Here are the official guides:
Note: if you block all cookies, the donation cart won’t remember your selections between page loads, and we won’t be able to keep you signed in. Strictly necessary cookies need to be allowed for the site to function.
Changes to this policy
If we add, remove, or change a cookie we’ll update this list and bump the date below.
